PASTORAL VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Providence Baptist Church of San Francisco, CA seeks to fill the position of full-time pastor. We seek a visionary pastor with strong leadership skills who will preach the unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ, teach sound Baptist doctrine; engage in pastoral care ministries; provide spiritual leadership, development and training; and act as the chief administrator of staff, both paid and unpaid.

Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  1. Serve as spiritual leader of the Providence Baptist Church of San Francisco;
  2. Accountable to membership of Providence Baptist Church of San Francisco;
  3. Work in consultation with the official ministries of the church;
  4. Lead the deacons, trustees, church officers, and ministry leadership as they perform their assigned responsibilities;
  5. Primary preacher of the Gospel at Providence Baptist Church of San Francisco;
  6. Conduct group teaching sessions on theological doctrines, biblical doctrines, Baptist doctrines, and church leadership;
  7. Promote the church Sunday school, prayer meeting, Bible study, and all other church ministries;
  8. Conduct any and all religious ceremonies in this church, such as worship services, weddings, baby blessings, funerals, baptisms,
    the Lord’s Supper, and any other religious ceremony normally performed by pastors of Baptist churches;
  9. Preside, as chairperson, over all church general business meetings;
  10. Preside over meetings of the Board of Deacons;
  11. Act as advisor and counselor to the Board of Trustees, and all other auxiliaries and ministries of the church;
  12. Accept invitations to attend meetings from any religious or civic organizations, or delegate a representative to attend in his absence;
  13. Participate in, and support District, State, and National Baptist Conventions;
  14. Lead in planning, executing, and evaluating comprehensive church programs of worship, education, evangelism, mission, and ministries;

Required Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years Baptist pastoral leadership experience

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree from a theological seminary, divinity school or accredited post-secondary institution

Preferred Education:
Masters or Doctorate of Theology Degree, or Divinity Degree, or equivalent experience

Special Characteristics and Skills:
Outstanding faith in God and commitment to Christian service
Visionary
Demonstrated leadership and interrpersonal relationship skills
Excellent oral, written, and listening skills
Proven community leadership skills
Knowledge of business and administrative practices
Basic computer skills, including e-mail, text messaging, and social media
Knowledge and experience in addressing the concerns and needs of youth

  3. Verification of college degrees, seminary, or theological training/course work
  4. Five reference letters (two (2) from pastors/clergy, two (2) chairman of deacons/officers, and one (1) community leader)
  5. A signed letter of consent to our church Bylaws that states in Article VIII, Section 10: "To investigate the personal
    qualifications of anyone seeking the position of Pastor. Conduct a personal background check with the Department of Justice
    and have such finding revealed to the church membership."
